| Marlene Norton: Toth | My great grandfather was Nicholas TOTH. I believe he was born in Zombor in 1855. His parents were Johann TOTH and Magdelena SZEGHI. Nicholas married Victoria KARASZ in 1881 in Hodschag. They had several children in Hodschag then moved to Uj Palanka. Nicholas died in Palanka in 1940. He was a shepherd. A family story said people brought sick animals so I guess he was sort of the local vet.
Nicholas and Victoria had ten children that I know of. I would like to find information on any of them. My grandmother, Katalin, mentioned sisters but never brothers. However there were sons - Michael, Antonius,Stefan and Nicholas. I am assuming they died before the time I remember her talking about sisters. Daughters were Katalin, Victoria, Magdelena, Maria, Elizabeth and Eva.
One of Nicholas' brothers, Franciscus, married Erzebet FARKAS. Other brothers were Michael and Martin. One of Victoria's sisters, Elizabeth KARASZ married Michael FEKETE.
I have a photo taken in 1931 in Uj Palanka of a cousin -- a bride and groom named Leuca and Rosa but don't know either surname and I don't know which was the relative. I have a photo of Treska Papp, also a cousin. One daughter married someone name RACZ.
